Blood lactate concentrations: useful application in testing and training

In testing and training, three different intensity domains have been defined that are based on the decline of blood lactate concentrations during exercise: (1) training intensity is clearly below lactate threshold (intensity < threshold); (2) intensity is above lactate threshold, but below the maximal lactate steady state (threshold < intensity < MLSS); (3) high-intensity training above MLSS (intensity < MLSS).

Read more about lactate threshold concepts and the blood lactate concentrations as sensitive marker for establishing intensity domains.
